'THE SOLID GOAL AWARD' MOST VALUABLE PLAYER MIDGET AA
In 1996, the first and inaugural Solid Goal Tournament had, what was then a revolutionary idea; bring the best players and teams to a single venue in order to ‘Showcase’ their talents and potential to U.S.A. and Canadian Colleges and Universities. That year Solid Goal wanted to recognize the top Intermediate prospect by virtue of an award; the Colleen Mackenzie Memorial Award was born! It soon became very apparent to us that Colleges and Universities were paying as much attention to the Midget AA age category as they were Intermediate AA. For many of the same reasons Solid Goal decided they (The Tournament) would sponsor an award recognizing, within the context of the Tournament and the Midget AA Division the “SOLID GOAL Most Valuable Player Award” In its inaugural year; 2002, the winner of this Award was Amanda Shaw. Her name will appear on the plaque as the first of many outstanding athletes to be recognized by the award.
